Wednesday, October 10th from 7 to 10 PM head to Headhouse Square for the first Savor the Shambles: A Taste of South Street District event. Granted it’s a long name but it’s for a good cause, the continued conservation of the Headhouse Shambles.
$10 gets you five servings from any of the participating restaurants. Additional servings are just $2 each.

Philadelphia Magazine takes a look at
Zot and is knocked over by its mussels, even as it finds some of the other entrees aren’t as consistent.
But even with its problems, I’d recommend Zot. There’s no shame in being a beer-and-mussels place — especially when you do mussels better than standbys like Monk’s, Abbaye and Eulogy.

In the Metro today check out where you can find locally farmed foods in the city, and some local beer too. Local happy hour tonight at Southwark and at Good Food, Good Beer and the Rest Is History under the shambles at Headhouse Square this Saturday. Xochitl, Zot and Bridget Foy’s among others will participate.
Also there are rumors of a mutiny at the Rum Bar. Arrrgh Matey!

Craig LaBan tries out the latest Belgian spot in town, the three-month old Zot on the 100 block of Lombard. Despite missteps from the waitstaff and questionable frittes, the mussels are what matters and delivers.
Order up a charcuterie plate and any pot of the 30 or so different kinds of beer-steamed mussels to begin – perhaps the classic Bruxelles style perfumed with smoky slab bacon, leeks and goat cheese; or the harissa-spiced Red Devil to get your lips smoking – and the scene is set for a splendid meal.

When talking about South Street’s 8 Days of Eats we’ve heard some snide comments about South Street restaurants kind of well, sucking, but au contraire, South Street has been seeing a bit of a resurgence with spots like Gayle, Xochitl and Zot having opened in the last year or so.

City Paper takes a look at Zot, the recently opened Belgian tavern near Headhouse Square.
Pick your meat or fish from one list, choose among some 20 sauces, and pair the main dish with whatever starch you desire. If you love béarnaise so much that you want it on your tuna, as well as your bison, no one’s going to stop you.

South Philly Review heads down to Zot, the brand new Belgian restaurant on Lombard Street between Front and Second.
The menu is pure Belgian with lots of French influence (my favorite kind of food). The list of beers is astonishing, but don’t be overwhelmed. Charlie will make recommendations and match your dinner with the appropriate beer.
Three tips of the toque to Zot.
