Construction is continuing on the new
Yards Brewing Co. at 901 N Delaware Avenue with great progress of late.
The new floor that can support the weight of the brewing equipment has finally been completed. Next comes the installation of that equipment and yes, brewing will start shortly after that.
Some other info that has come down through the grapevine is that there will be a bar on site. They’ve reserved an area about the size of the downstairs of the Standard Tap for the bar. The exact setup, hours and whether there will be food is still up in the air.
And from the Brewer’s Desk, “Skippy” reports that they’ve ordered a super cool fully automated bottling line which is twice as fast as the old one. Yards is also looking for a maintenance manager.

A shortage of raw ingredients is shooting the price of hops and barley up which will likely mean your favorite beers are going to cost a bit more by the end of the year.
The shortage is a result of poor crops, high demand, the weak dollar and the increasing popularity of ethanol, which has prompted farmers to plant corn rather than hops or barley.
