Fútball & Fußball

Posted by Foobooz on 12th August 2009

deutscher_fussball_bundThere’s World Cup qualifying action on the TVs at Brauhaus Schmitz today. At noon, Germany takes on Azerbaijan and then it’s USA vs Mexico from Estadio Azteca in hot and smoggy Mexico City. The US has never won in Mexico but are coming off their best tournament result ever at the Confederations Cup.

This weekend German Bundesliga action will be broadcast live at 9:30 am on Saturday.

As always, the Soccer Special is $4 Franziskaner Hefe and Franziskaner Dunkel, Warsteiner Pils and Warsteiner Dunkel.

Plenty of World Cup Options

Posted by Foobooz on 7th July 2006

Looks like lots of places are doing World Cup Final parties this Sunday. In addition to the excellent spots we’ve been recommending for World Cup viewing, look for other special events to be happening.

The Irish Pub kicks off their celebration at 9 AM at both 1123 Walnut Street and 2007 Walnut Street. There will be a specially priced breakfast and lunch specials and $2 Bud Lite drafts.

Patou, at 312 Market Street wants to be Philadelphia’s French Headquarters for the last match of the World Cup. The doors will open at 11 AM for brunch and there will be specials throughout the day including $3 bottles, $4 drafts, and $1 off cocktails. There are 5 TV Screens above the bar + 1 large-screen TV in Patou’s dining room. And at halftime Patou will also be offering steamship roast beef sandwich station with salads for only $10.

Places to Watch The World Cup

Posted by Foobooz on 8th June 2006

FIFA World Cup

  • Barristers - Watch the action on five plasmas and gulp down $3 Beck’s & Beck’s Light.
  • Black Sheep Pub – The Black Sheep will be offering discounted pints during all games.
  • Dark Horse – The Dark Horse is always filled with soccer fans for the World Cup, but arrive early if you expect a seat. Especially for England’s games.
  • Fado – During all games, $13 buys two 20oz pints Bass, Boddingtons, or Stella Artois, plus any a sandwich
  • Ludwig’s Garten – Where better to cheer on Germany than in Philadelphia’s authentic German bar.
  • O’neals – Always a hot spot to watch a game, never a cover.

All that beer drinking sound too tempting as you duck out for lunch? Then how about Upstairs at DiBruno Bros. where they’re offering high-def TVs and all of the games.
