Winging It

Posted by Foobooz on 25th September 2009

Over at Meal Ticket there’s a spirited comments thread going on who has the best wings in Philadelphia. An always fun and impossible conversation, perfect for a Friday.

Here are some at that have already been mentioned that we’ll happily second.

  • Union Jack’s in Glenside
  • Byrne’s Tavern
  • Varga Bar

And another spot we’d like to nominate, Murphy’s Irish Saloonery in East Falls, especially on Wednesday when the wings drop to like 20 cents a piece.

We want need to know: Who’s got the best wings in Philly? [Meal Ticket]

Wing Bowl Desserts

What do you do after downing 167 wings? Well if you’re wing bowl contestant “Gentleman” Jerry Caughlin you check out former wing bowl champion, Bill Simmons’ new wing joint, El Wingador To Go.

And the wings make the cut with Gentleman Jerry, who finds the wings just about perfect.

El Wingador To Go has been open about a month and in addition to the wings, the Girard Avenue takeout spot offers sandwiches, burgers, cheesesteaks and a number of dishes from Simmons’ native Puerto Rico.

Best Wings

Posted by Foobooz on 6th December 2006

As Phillyist notes in their Foodsday, Tuesday feature, Moriarty’s wings are often considered the best in the city, and they are damned good, but for their taste and Foobooz’s too boot, you can’t beat the dry-rub wings at Devil’s Alley.
