Posted by Foobooz on 25th August 2009

It would appear that is at least one of the menu items on Daniel Stern’s MidAtlantic menu.

We caught the following via Twitter last night:

Big Changes At Distrito

Posted by Foobooz on 20th August 2009

distrito_cabs

Distrito is overhauling their first floor and turning it into a “student-friendly” cantina. Expect $5 cocktails, $2-3 Mexican beers and food prices that will be easier on the wallet.

No word on the Volkswagen Bug table but we’d guess it’ll fit in just fine.

University City’s Dining Days kick off today. The West Philadelphia equivalent to Restaurant Week has several bells and whistles to make it worth a look. “To diverse for one price” is the tag line and the truth. Diners can choose from $15, $25 or $30 menus at West Philadelphia restaurants. Among the highlights are the five items you can get at Distrito, a last chance for Marigold Kitchen and the salad, pizza and dessert for just $15 at Dock Street.

You Following All This?

Posted by Foobooz on 14th July 2009

Science CenterThings change quickly in Philadelphia’s restaurant scene. Perhaps some inner monologue can help you follow along.

We: Daniel Stern is opening a new restaurant.

Us: Yeah, Rae in Two Liberty Place.

We: No, not Rae.

Us: No? Rae isn’t happening?

We: It’s happening but won’t be called Rae. It will be R2L. We’re talking about a different restaurant.

Us: Oh yeah, the casual restaurant set to replace Rae at Cira Centre.

We: Nope, not that. That doesn’t seem to be happening. The space is being shopped.

Us: Hmm. Interesting. So what’s this other restaurant?

We: It’s going in the Science Center at 3711 Market Street.

Us: Oh, odd. A restaurant in a science center. Don’t know what to make of that.

We: Yep, Michael Klein says it will be called MidAtlantic. And you have to check out the description of it. “Culinary roots of the mid-Atlantic region.”

Us: What does that mean?

We: No idea. Guess we’ll have to wait to early Fall to find out.

Us: We’re looking forward to it.

2009_dining_daysSave the date. University City’s Dining Days return in late July. 21 West Philadelphia restaurants will be offering three courses at three price points between July 23 and 30th.

As University City’s dining options have grown this becomes an even more compelling restaurant week.
