whiskeys

Complete menu after the jump.

Free Whiskey Tonight

Posted by Foobooz on 16th December 2008

(ri)^1Time is hosting the launch of the new rye whiskey (Ri1) from the Jim Beam distillery. Complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be available from 10pm to midnight.

Pronounced “rye-one” the Jim Beam folk describe their new whiskey as “ultrapremium rye whiskey and the measure by which all others should be judged.” So they got that going for them.

LaBan On Time

Posted by Foobooz on 21st July 2008

Craig LaBan enjoys all three sides of Time on Sansom Street. From the chop house to the beer and whiskey bar to the absinthe lounge upstairs.

The incoherence could become an identity crisis if the individual parts weren’t worthy. But in most respects they are, especially if you appreciate Time’s one unifying theme: a dedication to resurrecting retro pleasures like brown spirits, live music, and country club cookery. Not to mention the “Green Fairy” of the Belle Epoque.

Time

Time

This week, City Paper’s Elisa Ludwig spends some time at Time finding that only about half the time that things arein sync.

Sometimes, though, the dishes are less a clever “take” on a cliché and more of an inspired improvement. Crabcakes, golden, crisp-shelled patties filled with fluffy seafood mousse, are ingeniously paired with pickled jalapeño slices, acidity cutting the richness. Veal cheeks are braised in IPA until fork-shreddingly soft, slathered with a syrupy bourbon fig confit and served with browned fava beans and cippoline onions. Both are worthy matches for the well-chosen beverages here.

Time Stumbles

Posted by Foobooz on 18th June 2008

Yes, this was Ludwig\'s!

Adam Erace has nary a nice thing to say about Time, the successor to Ludwig’s on Sansom Street.

The cumbersome country club-inspired menu executed by Keith Murphy (from the couple’s wine bar Vintage) feels as heavy as a cable-knit sweater at an Independence Day barbecue. Eighty-degree Center City nights don’t exactly ignite cravings for braised veal cheeks and rack of wild boar, you know?

You’d think a place called Time would know what month it is, but forget about the calendar for a minute. I could maybe dig it if the wintry items were especially delicious. They’re not.

Last Night, It Was Time for Time

Posted by Kirsten Henri on 11th April 2008

Time

The ‘official’ opening is Saturday, but Time, the new restaurant/bar/lounge from Vintage owners Jason and Delphine Evenchik was wide open last night. There was no food yet (at least for the general public – it’s currently a ‘friends and family’ situation and we were told the menu would be ready to go on Saturday).

Let us be the first to say that it is almost unrecognizable inside, which is remarkable considering how gnarly Ludwig’s was and how little time has passed since the Evenchiks took over the space. Here’s a breakdown…
