The howl of Joe Sixpack has been heard. April Lisante of Philly.com covers the trend of dog friendly dining that seems to have sprung up this spring.
Call it a case of Le Bec Fido, but something doggone tasty is happening this spring at restaurants from Rittenhouse Square to Northern Liberties to the Main Line: customized canine menus for pampered pooches.

When the clock strikes 1700, it’s happy hour time at Tavern 17. And the 1 and 7 allusions don’t stop with the time, there are Tavern sliders for just $1.70 each and $1.70 mini-cocktails as well.
The Tavern sliders are available in hamburger, smoked pork, lamb & feta, beef short rib and lump crab cake, sliders can be ordered individually or in a pack of five.
As part of Tavern 17’s bites and flights menu you can order a flight of drinks, 3 miniature cocktails that make sampling a variety of drinks an easy and inexpensive thing to do. Try out the night with a tropical flight including pineapple-ginger smash, founder’s punch and bahia pina colada, or a flight of mojitos featuring a bojito, o-jito and the traditional mojito.
As for wine, Tavern 17 features 17 whites and 17 reds by the glass, and the restaurant features a glass-encased wine room holding 1,200 bottles. What? Not 1,700 bottles?

- Bliss

Another new spot to check out with your four-legged companion is Tavern 17 where later this summer they’ll be unveiling a “doggie menu.”
