We have an ongoing debate, what’s worse, to be a tool or a douche? Whatever side the debate you fall on we have the feeling there will be a lot of both at these two openings this weekend. Strongbox reopens Friday with the decidedly not-douchey/tooly DJ Jazzy Jeff scheduled to make an appearance. And Saturday sees the unveiling of Recess Lounge in Old City. [Grub Street]
We told you about JL Sullivan’s turning into Tavern on Broad last week. Now comes word that former Union Trust chef Terry White will be working the kitchen. [Meal Ticket]
Famous 4th Street Deli has opened on 19th Street. The Bainbridge Street institution is bringing their same menu to the Center City West location. [Meal Ticket]

Chew Man Chu is a new dumpling, noodle and wok restaurant replacing Marty Grim’s DuJour at the Symphony House at Broad and Pine. Tyson Wong Ophaso is the chef with extensive experience in France, New York, Los Angeles and now in Philadelphia. He’ll also run Marty Grim’s Commerce Square restaurant which is looking like 2010. Grub Street has details on Square 1682 in the Kimpton Hotel at 17th and Sansom. Former Charlie Trotter second-in-command, Guillermo Tellez will be the chef. Sounds promising. [Grub Street]
Texas Wieners is opening in Collingswood. Grand opening of the long time South Philadelphia staple is September 12th.
A.D. Amorosi says Strongbox is coming back September 10th. Maybe this should be in the Bad News edition? [Ice Pack, City Paper]

Right now Foobooz crush object, Paesano’s is suffering from too much of a good thing. Since being named the best hoagie by WIP they’ve been getting crushed by business. So for at least right now, the late night hours are off.
Strongbox is a locked box. The Walnut Street bottle bar is closing for the summer. [Meal Ticket]

Terence Feury, most recently of Maia and formerly of Striped Bass, Le Bernardin and the Ritz-Carlton in DC is becoming the new chef at Fork. Longtime Fork chef, Thein Ngo is retiring to Vietnam this month. [The Insider]
