Phoodie.info has rolled out a new Events Calendar in handy-dandy Google Calendar format.
Of course Phoodie isn’t the only ones publishing food and drink events this way. We’ve got our own Google Calendar and here are some others that you might like.
Open any of the calendars and click the
to add it to your Google calendar.
And although not in a Google Calendar format, the Philly Beer Week Calendar of upcoming events is worth checking out as well.

Of course the World Series begins tonight but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the launch of Flying Fish’s Exit 1 Bayshore Oyster Stout as well.
There are two launch parties, from 6 to 8pm at the Oyster House and from 7 to 9pm at the Standard Tap. Both these locations typically do not have televisions but will for the World Series. The Oyster House will also be offering $1 oysters and $3 oyster shooters.

Is it really the end of summer? There are a several last of the summer events tonight. As we said earlier, it’s the last of Center City Sips. It’s also the last of the Standard Tap’s Beers of Summer Wednesdays. They’ll be pouring Lancaster Cream Ale. And last but not least it’s the final Concert in the Park at Rittenhouse Square.
We suggest one of two courses of action if you are headed to the park. Plan one has you starting out at the Market at the Comcast Center where you can pick up some discounted sushi, chocolate or DiBruno Bros. dinner. There’s a Wine & Spirits store across from the Comcast Center at 17th and JFK for your vino needs. Or if you’re starting south of the square, pick up a big bottle of beer or two from Food & Friends market at 20th and Spruce, then swing by Metropolitan Bakery for bread and a sampling of their new American cheese selection. Then head to the park, join up with friends and enjoy.

We have a soft spot for soft shell crabs. We’ve already sampled the soft shell crab sandwich at the Standard Tap. We’re looking forward to our first order of soft shells at Dmitri’s. It looks like Bridget Foy’s might be just as crazy about the cuddly crustacean as we are.
From now to June 30th, Bridget Foy’s is offering four different soft shell crab specials.
- Kenzinger Beer Battered Soft Shell Crab Sandwich / creole remoulade / shaved cabbage $13
- Tempura Soft Shell Crab/spicy peanut vinaigrette / noodle salad $13
- Pan Seared Soft Shell Crabs/ fresh linguini / roasted cherry tomatoes / saffrom broth $26
- Buttermilk Soft Shell Crabs/ jalapeno grits / creamy cole slaw $26

The Center City District recently released their State of Center City 2009 report where they counted 215 outdoor cafes. As the outdoor cafe has become ubiquitous we’ve started hearing a new question, where can I eat outside away from the sidewalk. Today’s edition of The Bite highlights a handful of restaurants where the atmosphere is never broken by the blaring of, “welcome to route….”
