Tonight the University of Pennsylvania takes on Penn State at the Palestra in the Name Recognition Classic. An event that forces America to recognize that the two schools are not the same. Warm your innards before or after the game at Sláinte where they’ve updated their menu with some hearty tastes of the season, including chicken pot pie and baked macaroni and cheese.

Daily Candy takes an early look at Sláinte at 30th and Market.

The new go-to for the after-work crowd, Sláinte will please brew connoisseurs and foodies alike with its European draft beer system and huge drool-worthy menu. Fill up on items such as Prince Edward Island Mussels; bangers and mash; fish ’n’ chips; and, yes, cheddar beer dip made with Harp Lager. Then wash it all down with a massive selection of stouts; lagers; Hefeweizens; and, of course, Guinness.

The Bite in today’s Metro touches on some recent restaurant and bar openings around town. We have a new Belgian spot that lets you sample by the ounce. A new Mexican restaurant on South Street that looks to remake the street’s dining reputation and a couple of bars with big TVs.

Oh and for all you Headhouse Square farmers market fans, the market has been extended through December 23rd.
