Weekend Plans

Posted by Foobooz on 3rd November 2006

Friday
It’s First Friday and Ironworks, yeah the gym, is hosting a “secret” First Friday party. Expect snacks and drinks provided by Bluecoat Gin and Triumph Brewing. Incidentally progress continues on the new Triumph location on the 100 block of Chestnut Street.

If you’re not looking for whine and cheese, how about some beer and cheese. DiBruno cheese to be exact. This and every First Friday DiBruno Brothers hosts a tasting with a local brewer. This month it is Weyerbacher beers being paired with DiBruno’s cheeses. $40 a person.

Saturday
Head to Harrisburg and enjoy the tapping of Mad Elf at Troegs. But be sure to arrange for transportation back as the Elf weighs in at 11% alcohol.

If you’re looking for something a little different how about checking out Al’Dana in Chestnut Hill. Authentic Middle Eastern food and on Saturdays, belly dancers!

Sunday
No Eagles this weekend so why not enjoy a relaxing brunch. G-ho’s Ants Pants beckons. But if you need your competitive fix, Kegs and Eggs at the Pour House in East Falls might be more your style. $1 Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers and Miller High Lifes from 8 AM! Flip Cups and Beer Pong as well!

All You Can Eat Crabs And Hall Of Fame Coach

Posted by Foobooz on 4th October 2006

Last week John Chaney was spotted taking advantage of the Pour House in East Falls’ all you can eat crab night. Can’t guarantee that the coach will be back this week, but the crabs are still there.

Bars For Peace, Thursday

Posted by Foobooz on 22nd August 2006

Tavern owners are uniting to raise money for the family of Philadelphia Police Officer Gary Skerski, who was killed in May when he tried to break up a robbery in a Lower Northeast bar.

“We thought, as bar owners, there has been a lot of violence in the city,” said George Flocco, owner of the Pour House Tavern in East Falls. “The Philadelphia Police Department is out there risking their lives on a daily basis, and we wanted to do something for them.”

Flocco intends to form partnerships with a large number of area bar/restaurants and taverns, and, come Thursday night, each will charge a $5 cover fee.

Each bar will then donate those proceeds to a Skerski family fund.

“The police [take risks] for us, on a regular basis,” said Flocco, whose tavern opened last year. “And when you see an officer die in the line of duty protecting another bar, we wanted to do something.”

The Pour House in East Falls is a good place to watch a game, and grab something big to eat.
The menu’s signature dish may be the Flocco Burger, fried onions, crisp bacon, and cheese whiz. Sound too healthy? Then go for the Big A** Burger, a pound of beef, clean your plate and receive a Pour House t-shirt.

Weekly Specials including all-you-can-eat crabs and 1/2 price Guinness after the jump.
