Opening This Spring

Posted by Foobooz on 21st March 2007

Kirsten Henri’s piece in today’s Philadelphia Weekly is chock full of goodies for everyone looking forward to the next big opening.

  • 707 is promising no entree over $20. The “classic American” cuisine will feature pigs-in-a-blanket, hanger steak with tempura onion rings and reuben spring rolls.
  • Fairmount’s Monk’s is still tied up in paperwork with those sticks in the mud, the PLCB.
  • Look for the Spruce Street Tria to open in June.
  • Can oil-poached Copper River salmon with lemongrass and shiitake risotto get people to go to the Penthouse Lounge and Grille?
  • And it still sounds like the end of March for Triumph Brewing Company’s Old City location.

Penthouse Lounge and Grille is be billing themselves as a premier lounge and every last report we’ve read has said there won’t be any naked entertainers. But take a look at the floor plan, taken from their web site, and you tell me what you think that stage is built for?Penthouse wouldn’t be trying an end around here to open a strip bar? We’re not saying they are. We’re just asking!

More Details Emerge On The Penthouse

Posted by Foobooz on 15th September 2006

Last week’s Feeding Frenzy noted that Emerald City was closing up and was expected to return as “non-after-hours private food/restaurant-based concept possibly called Penthouse Steakhouse.

Well this week’s Bawdy Girls newsletter dropped a little more information on the place.

Think supper club, meets fashion week, meets cirque du soleil. The type of place you want to have a ladies night out, enjoy dinner, dancing, and maybe even some shopping after downing a few artisan cocktails.

Well they’re hiring for all positions including club dancers and choreographers and not the gentlemen’s club variety.
