Tonight, the Beer Lass will be pouring complimentary Sly Fox Oktoberfest at Smiths this evening starting at 6:30.

The winner of the Brauhaus Schmitz Bratwurst speed eating contest finished in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. That’s a 1/2 meter bratwurst, scoop of potato salad, scoop of Sauerkraut, and .5L of Hausbrau.

BURP!

Judging by the crowds, lots of people have been celebrating Brauhaus Schmitz’s opening and now that it’s September, celebrate with a month’s worth of Oktoberfest fun.

Tomorrow, there’s a Franziskaner promotion from 9 to 11pm where everyone who orders a $4 Franziskaner will be entered to win a motorized scooter given away that night.

Reviving Oktoberfest [Philadelphia Inquirer]

Oktoberfest officially kicks off in Munich today and since Philadelphia just loves beer, it of course follows that there are a lot of Oktoberfest events happening in the area.

Mexican or not, a beer bar like Jose Pistola’s is certainly not going to miss out on Oktoberfest.

On Tuesday, September 23rd Jose Pistola’s will be hosting a blind taste test of 10 Oktoberfest beers plus a Bavarian buffet. The winning beer will stay on tap for all of October.

Tickets are $50 and include 10 drafts, the buffet and even tax and gratuity.
