Rick Nichols takes an early look at the Oceanaire Seafood Room and finds it lacking to say the least.
This was the start of a lunch closer to the holiday, and as generous as I was feeling, it put me off my feed. Crabcake club sandwich? Ridiculously overpowering roll. (The crabcakes themselves are sweet, meaty things bound with mayo-mustard dressing but served in artless blobs.) The Yuengling-beer-battered fish and chips? Batter worthy of TGIF. Shoestring fries mounded to truly elephantine excess. To give it its due, the cup of New England clam chowder ($4.95) was a pure, bacon-scented joy.

PhilaFoodie takes in the
Oceanaire Seafood Room and is transported to another time and place. But the atmosphere is background for Ocenaire’s true specialties, “ultra-fresh” fish and “titanic” proportions.
Oceanaires Ultra-Fresh selections and gargantuan portions make it a Disneyland for fish lovers. One bite and you’ll be hooked.

Phyllis Stein-Novack of the South Philly Review takes an early look at the
Oceanaire Seafood Room and she likes what she finds, from the sizable portions to the variety of fresh fish.
I would rather dine at The Oceanaire than other places that serve strange combinations and offer tiny portions. Here, the food is top quality and the freshness of each ingredient speaks for itself. It is one of the best new restaurants of the year.
Three tips of the toque to The Oceanaire.
