Mission Grill Sunday Wine-Down

On Sundays, Mission Grill is offering its entire wine list and tequila collection at half price from 3 PM to Midnight. Choose from 80 wines and 50 types of tequila at happy hour prices.

There’s also a three-course prix fixe menu available for $30. So go ahead and check out Mission’s southwestern cuisine.

Mission Grill, from the peeps at the Public House, is set to open this week at 19th and Arch. [Ice Pack, City Paper]

A.D. Amorosi fondly remembers the Five Spot and even before that when it was the Casbah. [Ice Pack, City Paper]

February 15th is looking more and more like the date that Marc Vetri’s Osteria will open. We’re excited for the anticipated pizzas but worried that OpenTable isn’t taking reservations yet. [Feeding Frenzy, City Paper]

Old City is going to be getting a new BYOB sushi spot. Uzu Sushi says they’ll be “a cozy sushi restaurant with a flare of exotic offerings.”

And overheard last night, Dock Street Illuminator will be available on on March 1st. Look for the Amber at finer beer bars now. The new Dock Street Brew Pub is aiming for a June opening.

Table Talk looks back on the restaurant scene in 2006 as well as looks forward to 2007. [Table Talk, Philadelphia Inquirer]

Could the House of Blues planned for the Packard Building not happen? Michael Klein says he’ll believe it when he sees it in his Table Talk column today and A. D. Amorosi reports ex-employees of the House of Blues organization may not happen. [Icepack, City Paper]

Feeding Frenzy gives some more details on Mission Grill, the upscale American Southwest restaurant set for 19th and Arch Streets. The menu will be big on pork and fish and the General Manager is an alum from the Fountain. [Feeding Frenzy, City Paper]

Triumph Brewing Company is getting closer, now it looks like a February opening may be realistic. The kitchen is in place and so is the brewing equipment. [Feeding Frenzy, City Paper]

10 South 20, formerly Blue Horseshoe, and never Christopher’s is again closed for renovations. This spot at 20th and Market seems to change concepts quicker than the seasons.

Warmdaddy’s will be adding Sunday Gospel Brunch to the menu. Expect crawfish, gumbo, black skillet corn bread with honey butter, cheese grits, omelets, chicken and waffles among other down-home dining.

Mission Grill, a Southwestern by the people behind the Public House are aiming for a first quarter ‘07 opening at 19th and Arch. [Philadelphia Inquirer, Table Talk]

When Carmine’s Creole Cafe takes up its spot in Bryn Mawr, the Narberth location will become Margot, a moderately priced American BYOB. [Philadelphia Inquirer, Table Talk]

Wrap Shack is set to open its second location, this time on Rittenhouse Square in a spot that’s not quite a shack. Wrap Shack on the Square is set to open in February. [Philadelphia Inquirer, Table Talk]

Snackbar hours continue to evolve as the kitchen now opens at 1 PM. The cafe opens at 7:30 Monday through Saturday, 8 AM on Sundays. [Feeding Frenzy, City Paper]

The Mayfair Diner is under new ownership but the menu should remain mostly the same “for the time being.” [On the Side, Philadelphia Inquirer]

The Metro today has an interview with the busy Daniel Stern, who opened Rae on Tuesday. He doesn’t see cooking French at Le Bec-Fin as that much different from cooking American at Rae, and he doesn’t seem ready to rest despite opening two restaurants in a year. [Metro, P. 14]
