Best of Philly, Mapped!

Posted by Foobooz on 4th August 2009

Best of Philly Food 2009

Best of Philly is always a fun read, even if you heartily disagree with the choices. But the most asked question besides, how could they make that choice has to be, where in the world is that?

In order to help you with that familiar refrain, we present our 2009 Best of Philly Food Map.

It’s Been A Busy July

Posted by Foobooz on 17th July 2009

Since July 3rd an unprescedented number of restaurants and bars that have announced openings later this year or even further out. 16 at last count. Places as modest as Sprinkles Yogurt to as exciting as Marc Vetri’s third restaurant dot the below map. Check it out and wonder, have we weathered the worst of this recession?

We Love Maps

Posted by Foobooz on 17th July 2009

Marker Love

We here at Foobooz World Headquarters love maps. In fact, last night we were geocoding 800+ restaurants just for fun. Well maybe not just for fun but anyway –  we especially love Google Mash-ups that display all sorts of fun food-related stuff.

And Phoodie links out to four very cool ones that mash up BYOBs, burritos, beer and beef-free offerings.

Kill The Sixtel

Posted by Foobooz on 12th March 2008

For tonight’s Philly Beer Week pick we’re going with what the Beer Week calendar blandly calls “The Local Breweries Self-Guided Tour” but we prefer to think of it as “Borg on a Bender.” Tonight seven breweries will be represented at eight bars. Your goal, kick the sixtel (a small keg) at each bar and head to the next. Pay as you go, just $4 a pint. It all kicks off at Jose Pistola’s at 6pm.

  1. Jose Pistolas – Iron Hill – Vienna Lager
  2. Good Dog - Dock Street – Satellite Espresso Porter
  3. Misconduct Tavern - Flying Fish – Bourbon Abbey Dubbel
  4. Black Sheep – Yards – Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale
  5. Devil’s Alley – Sly Fox – Seamus Red Ale
  6. Nodding Head – Nodding Head – BPA
  7. Fergie’s – Tröeg’s – Nugget Nectar
  8. Mcgillin’s Olde Ale House – Everyone
