Join Foobooz Editor Arthur Etchells as he judges Chip Chantry’s One Giant Laugh for Mankind comedy show at the Khyber. The show begins at 8:30 but as always it’s worth getting there for happy hour from 5 to 7 where pints of Kenzinger are $2, domestic bottles are $1 and all other drafts are $2 cheaper.

Last month we recommended Chip Chantry’s One Man Show w/ Special Guests and even went ourselves. He’s back at it again tonight and we’re recommending it again. It kicks off at the Khyber at 8pm with a $5 cover and drink specials. Be sure to check out the Khyber’s draft list, it might be the most overlooked in the city.

Did you know that a woman, A. Serrill Headley, owned the Khyber in its previous incarnation? And that she stocked it with 180 beers? Unfortunately, this colorful lady just died, which is too bad, since we think she’d be fun to pal around with during Philly Beer Week. Then again, according to her obit she might be around after all:
Ms. Headley told a reporter in 1994 that her establishment was haunted. It had been some sort of a saloon since 1876, including during Prohibition, when it was a speakeasy. “After I’m gone,” she said, “I intend to come back and haunt the place myself.”
