Foodzings At Johnny Brenda’s

Posted by Foobooz on 11th December 2007

Chicken Kabob at Johnny Brenda’s

Foodzings visits Johnny Brenda’s before a concert and enjoys the hummus and chicken kabob.

We got an order of hummus, which came with warm and soft pita bread. Yum. And we both got the chicken kebab, which came on a whole piece of the same whole pita bread. While walking around earlier in the evening, I ran into a guy who was holding this, and the smell won me over, I had to have it. This thing was freakin good. I was pretty damn hungry, but even if I wasn’t, I still would have loved it.

And since we’re talking about Johnny Brenda’s it should be noted they have opened their upstairs balcony bar.

With Bites Come Crumbs

Posted by Foobooz on 29th August 2007

Sometimes our Metro column, The Bite runs a little tight on room and a crumb will hit the floor. Today was one of those days. So here’s what you missed.

Johnny Brenda’s has most recently made news for having a stand at Lincoln Financial Field this Eagles season where they will sell pork and meatball sandwiches. And while hipsters are still trying to wrap their heads around that one, the Fishtown bar has been busy experimenting with fresh donuts on their weekend brunch menu. A recent visit found three types, jelly, whiskey and coffee cake available for $1.25 each. Try the coffee cake donut; it even comes with a stick of cinnamon on top.

Johnny Brenda’s Serves Fresh Donuts

I’ll Have Another Stout follows up her brunch at Lacroix with a homier brunch this week that spans two Fishtown spots, Honey’s Sit and Eat and Johnny Brenda’s.

Honey’s serves up a crazy looking corn on the cob smothered with a bbq sauce and shredded cheese. Then fried green tomatoes and an omelet of ham, cheddar and green apples. After all that it’s off to Johnny Brenda’s for fresh donuts!

Johnny Brenda’s At The Linc

Posted by Foobooz on 17th August 2007

Johnny Brenda’s

As you may have noticed we’ve been kind of vacationing this week but we wanted to make sure you checked out Joe Sixpack’s article today. Joe gives a good rundown of what went wrong at Indepence Brew Pub, $43,000 a month rent for one. But the cool note he has is that Johnny Brenda’s is going to be at the Linc this fall. We’re having a hard time getting our brains around that but we’ll definitely try the grilled pork and meatball sandwiches when we get down there.

Johnny Brenda's - Upstairs Music Venue

It looks very cool. Much fancier than we here at Foobooz imagined. And it looks like it will be open by August 26th, that’s when the 3rd Annual Binge Festival is scheduled.
