Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby are boing to become the first vegan chefs to prepare a dinner at the James Beard House when they prepare their November 3rd dinner in New York. The menu looks pretty darn good and we’re certain it will come across better than Jenn Zavala’s hot tempered Chile Relleno stuffed with Seitan.

The prestigious James Beard Foundation has announced its Semifinalists for the 2009 James Beard Awards and there are lots of Philadelphia area nominees out there.
Marc Vetri is nominated for Outstanding Chef and his namesake restaurant is also under Best Service. Jonathan McDonald (Pub & Kitchen), Charles “Chip” Roman (Blackfish) and Michael Solomonov (Zahav) are up for Rising Star Chef of the Year and six chefs make the cut for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic

Amada’s Jose Garces and
Christopher Lee of Manhattan’s
Gilt are teaming up for a special dinner at Amada on November 15th. The dinner is part of the James Beard Foundation’s Celebrity Chef Tour and promises to be an amazing night.
There are still some tickets remaining. The five-course dinner costs $150 per person and includes wines from Chateau Souverain Winery paired with each course.

The world-renowned
James Beard House has invited
Marigold Kitchen’s Michael Solomonov back to cook dinner for a second time.
But even if you don’t want to make the trip to New York you can experience the menu at Marigold from Tuesday, July 17th until Sunday, July 22nd.
The dinner at the James Beard House in New York will be $130 to the general public. The five course tasting menu offered at Marigold Kitchen (excluding the hors d’ oeuvres and wine pairings) will be $60.

The
James Beard Foundation has announced their nominees for the 2007 James Beard Foundation Awards. The Beard Foundation awards are the culinary equivalent of the Oscars.And although no Philadelphia chefs or restaurants were nominated for any of the biggest awards,
Jose Garces is nominated for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic (DC, DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA).
Stephen Starr’s New York eateries got some love as Morimoto has been nominated for Outstanding Restaurant Design and Buddakan gets a nomination for Outstanding Restaurant Graphics.
