Elisa Ludwig takes a bite out of Hershel’s East Side Deli, the new Jewish deli in the Reading Terminal Market.
The pedigree is promising as owner Steven Safern’s father was a manager and partner in Katz’s Deli in New York. Hershel’s may not reach the level of that New York institution “but it’s a good nosh on the east side of Broad.”

Hershel’s Eastside Deli is coming soon to the Reading Terminal Market. An old-fashioned Jewish deli offering both lunch items and traditional Jewish specialties to take home. Hershel’s will occupy the current Spataro’s location and plans to be open in July.
