Paesano’s Burger Dissected

Posted by Foobooz on 15th March 2010

paesano_burger via Philly Phoodie

The Paesano Burger is now on the menu at the 9th and Christian location of Paesano’s. Philly Phoodie breaks down this inglorious bastard of two patties, bacon, caramelized onions, Gorgonzola cheese, French fries all packed onto a sesame seed roll.

It might be unfair to post this on a Monday as Paesano’s Italian Market location is only open Wednesday through Sunday. We’ll see you there on Wednesday though.

Bobby Flay tweets today that his University City Bobby’s Burger Palace will be opening in the first week in April. And yes, Bobby Flay will be there for the opening.

Also worth noting it seems that there will be a Cheez Whiz topped burger on the menu.

Philadelphia’s Phinest at P.Y.T.

Posted by Foobooz on 3rd February 2010

Tommy Up’s P.Y.T. is offering up a burger that couldn’t be more Philadelphian if it featured Ben Franklin running up the steps of the Art Museum and into the embrace of the Phanatic while being serenaded byHall & Oates.

It’s the Cheesesteak Pretzel Burger and it is for just a limited time.

We start with a juicy PYT Burger cooked to order & topped with cheddar. Then we cover it with thick-cut cheesteak (Wiz Wit of course) & pair it with one of most interesting breads you’ll ever find, the Pretzel Roll. The Pretzel Rolls are from Lancaster and are soft and fresh with a crisp pretzel like skin that holds up well to the large sandwich.

New Burger Favorite

Posted by Foobooz on 9th December 2009

VillageBurger.thumb2

Adam Erace reviews Village Whiskey and enjoys the service and cocktails but it is of course, really about the burger.

It was rapture on a roll, starring a patty given a thicker-than-average sear, a textural victory that held all the luscious juices hostage until my first bite liberated them a trickle at a time. The droplets of fat glistened like dew, quickly absorbed by a fluffy house-baked sesame-seeded bun cradling intensely beefy beef cooked a blushing medium. It was perfect—and wasn’t even the fancy foie gras-crowned Whiskey King. My burger was the $9 Village Burger, upgraded to $13 with a fried egg and cheddar, and if it isn’t the best burger in Philly, it’s at least my new favorite.

Burger Craze Continues

If you thought the burger craze of the summer was over you are sadly mistaken. The Bite looks into how it’s continuing this fall and doesn’t even get into the $7.17 Kobe beef burger at Union Trust or 500°, the burger shop by the Rouge owners that is planned for Sansom Street.

Want to enjoy some of Center City Philadelphia’s favorite burgers, then check out the Foobooz Burger Cruise this Tuesday. We’re hitting up Barclay Prime, Good Dog, Noble: American Cookery and Pub & Kitchen. Get your tickets here.

And The Most Expensive Burger Goes To….

Posted by Foobooz on 23rd October 2009

pyt

The most expensive burger in town has been the Whiskey King at Jose Garces’ Village Whiskey but starting next Wednesday, you’ll be able to pay more for the World F*cking Champion burger at P.Y.T.

In time for game one of the World Series Tommy Up will be debuting an 8 ounce venison patty topped with foie gras and served with sweet potato chips and a sparkler for $25.

In other P.Y.T. related news, Mac & Cheese gives a run down on the veggie and boozy options at the Northern Liberties burger lounge.
