Tradition and revitalization along E. Passyunk Avenue [Philadelphia Inquirer]

East Passyunk Avenue is coming to Rittenhouse Square this weekend. In the first “pop-up” neighborhood we’ve ever heard of, 16 retailers from East Passyunk are coming to 208 S 16th Street.

Included among the 16 retailers is Green Aisle Grocery. It will be the perfect opportunity for those who haven’t visited Green Aisle to see the fuss is about. There will be Zahav hummus, Stumptown Coffee, Bibou pumpkin bread, Remedy tea and more. Spend $30 and receive a $5 gift certificate to the Passyunk Avenue grocery.

Green Aisle Grocery is echoing the weather today with a riff on the popular Dark & Stormy. Green Aisle’s “Nearly Stormy,” involves vanilla soda, Canton gigner liquer, La Vigne organic limes and of course rum. It all starts at 6pm. [Green Aisle Grocery]

Green Aisle Grocery posted to their Facebook page that they will be carrying to-go dishes from Ekta starting on Friday. Most of South Philadelphia remains out of range for Tiffin and Ekta and this certainly provides away for Passyunkers to get their Indian on.

look for vindaloo, korma and a vegetarian option.

The Erace brothers’ Green Aisle Grocery has opened on 1618 E Passyunk Avenue today. The chance to purchase Zahav’s hummus, Pub & Kitchen’s barbecue sauce, pasta from James and other well known restaurant ingredients really appeals to us.
