We have to be honest, risotto has never made our toes curl. But reading the descriptions of Philadelphia Weekly’s Top 5 risotto dishes have us reconsidering.

Turkey Dinner Out

This week The Bite focuses on a few spots that are serving up delicious Thanksgiving Dinners.

This Thanksgiving, if you can’t make it home, there are plenty of places to get a turkey dinner as good as — or better than — the one grandma makes. However, don’t expect any can-shaped cranberry sauce.

Veal Stew At Gayle

Gayle is offering $35 Veal Stew Nights every Wednesday this fall. Gayle’s Veal Stew was named one of Bon Appetit’s best restaurant dishes of 2006.

The meal includes wine, salad, stew and apple pie.

Crab Tuesdays Extended

Gayle’s crab Tuesdays have been extended through the end of September. Menu includes a glass of wine or beer, salad, 4 to 6 hard shell crabs (depending on size) plus fries and slaw. All for just $30.

And in October stay tuned for $30 Veal Stew Tuesdays at Gayle.

Savor The Shambles

Wednesday, October 10th from 7 to 10 PM head to Headhouse Square for the first Savor the Shambles: A Taste of South Street District event. Granted it’s a long name but it’s for a good cause, the continued conservation of the Headhouse Shambles.

$10 gets you five servings from any of the participating restaurants. Additional servings are just $2 each.

Crab Fest At Gayle

Gayle is kicking off their new Summer menu with a Big Crab Fest on July 10th. In the spirit of cross-promotional synergy everyone who attends the crab fest on the 10th at Gayle receives a gift certificate for a signature cocktail at Rae, Daniel Stern’s other restaurant.

Also every Tuesday throughout the Summer Gayle will be offering a special Tuesday night menu, salad, 3 crabs with cole slaw and fries, a glass of house wine or a lager.

if you want to make reservations for Gayle you’ll need to use OpenTable as Gayle is taking a summer break from the 1st through the 9th.

  • This Saturday is the Garden State Craft Brewers Festival at the USS New Jersey in Camden.
