VendrTV Visits 20th & Market

Posted by Foobooz on 19th March 2009

VendrTV launched in February with former Philadelphia resident and voice of Rittenhouse Square, Daniel Delaney searching out great street food around the world. We’ve been waiting for him to come back to Philadelphia and have to say, we’re not surprised he wound up at Kostadinos “Gus” Hristis’ falafel stand at 20th and Market.

Living On The Vedge orders something we weren’t quite gutsy enough to try, the mac-and-cheese pancakes at SPTR. It was good enough to go into the “Brunch Hall of Fame.” [Living On The Vedge]

Memo To NY: NY <> United States

Posted by Foobooz on 12th October 2007

Maoz

Ahh, our friends in New York are at it again. This time amNew York is claiming New York is the home to the first Maoz in the United States.

Maoz Though the options may be limited, the sole menu item — falafel — is crisp and delicious. The Union Square location is the first U.S. franchise of a Dutch chain, with more on the way

Of course the first Maoz in the United States actually opened on South Street back in 2004. First it was gastropubs and now this.

Falafel Revolution

Posted by Foobooz on 20th October 2006

Craig LaBan’s Good Taste column this week focuses on falafel. In addition to the Israeli versions of falafel found at like Mama’s Vegetarian, Philly Falafel and Maoz Logan Square is home to Aya’s Cafe, which gives falafel an Egyptian twist.
