We found this very loquacious listing for the space that was once Deux Cheminees. A morsel:
The lease includes a LIQUOR LICENSE, four dining rooms and up to 125 seats in a revered location, tables, chairs, china & glassware, two enormous walk-in freezers, and kitchen and prep areas complete with fully-functioning equipment. Sign the lease today and SERVE DINNER/DRINKS TOMORROW. All that’s needed is a visionary restauranteur whose personal touch and culinary acumen will begin a new chapter in the annals of restaurant history.
Paging Shola Olunloyo! Unfortunately, former chef/owner Fritz Blank’s amazing cookbook library does not come with the space, but a Frank Furness mansion with Mercer-tiled fireplaces, leaded stained glass and walnut paneling? Yes, please.

Tis the season to try and get rid of your old junk, and it’s no different for Chef Fritz of Deux Cheminees who is closing up his award winning restaurant and retiring to Thailand. This Saturday and Sunday he’s selling off much of what he’s accumulated over the last 27 years, everything from kitchen equipment, furniture, crystal, tableware and other assorted collectibles.

Rick Nichols sits down one last time to eat at
Deux Chemineés and chat with
Chef Fritz.
He talks, mostly; I eat, mostly. The classics – Deux Chemineés’ indulgent take on creamy, jumbo-lump crab soup doused with a shot of Scotch. A half order of the notable – oh, just plain perfect! – veal sweetbreads. And two other old-timers – the “Polish style,” vinegar-raspberry sauced calf’s liver (OK), and the signature – oh, just plain perfect! – rack of lamb with “truffle-filled Sauce Perigord.”

More nostalgia in City Paper today as the paper turns to some local eateries of a similar age to reflect on Philadelphia’s restaurant scene.
City Paper asks, City Tavern, Deux Cheminees, Friday Saturday Sunday, Le Bec Fin, Philadelphia Fish & Company and White Dog Cafe for some back story, most popular dish, secret to success, and most missed restaurant.
