The Beer Lass has the dirt regarding the sale of Chaucer’s Tabard Inn. Michael Ojeda and Ed Hacket, both alums of the Daniel Stern empire (Gayle and Rae) are looking to take over the 20th and Lombard bar this September. No word on the concept or a name.
The fine folk over at Chaucer’s would like to point out though that they are in fact still open and home to great sidewalk seating, so stop in at least one more time.
Stay tuned for more info as we get it.

We’ve been told that Chaucer’s Tabard Inn at 20th and Lombard is on the market and although we’ve long been big fans, we admit we’re more than a bit excited that an established “good burger bar” is looking at the space.

City Paper’s Watering Hole finds a good time having a beer and listening to someone else’s conversation at Chaucer’s Tabard Inn, 20th & Lombard.
Chaucer’s looks big from the outside, but inside it’s a narrow space cluttered with drinkers of all color collars. The mismatched artwork further lends to its charm; in the corner, a framed Flyers Stanley Cup poster hangs next to a sepia portrait of a stoic Eskimo. And the bar’s intricate wood inlay is classy without being too Cheers-y.
Chaucer’s has half priced drinks for the ladies each Monday, and sidewalk dining all nights as well as a game room upstairs.
