Buy Fresh Buy Local is having a happy hour at the Standard Tap from 6 to 7:30. Or get your quiz tip on at either O’neals or the Bards tonight. Foobooz editor Trivia Art is filling in for the ego-maniacal Johnny Goodtimes.
If the heat has you thinking I’d rather a cool treat, we second Philebrity’s suggestion (last item), go to John’s Water Ice at 7th & Christian. And if you get a brain freeze try this MSN Health tip out:
Press your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much as you can. “Since the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, your body thinks your brain is freezing, too,” says Abo. “In compensating, it overheats, causing an ice-cream headache.” The more pressure you apply to the roof of your mouth, the faster your headache will subside.

Tonight several places are celebrating Bastille day with food, drink, music and dance. The Bastille Day things spill into tomorrow as well, as we recommend everyone storm the Bastille and enjoy the after parties.
Elsewhere tonight there are two highly anticipated openings as the Water Works is finally officially opened. And up in NoLibs the next chapter in Philadelphia latinizing kicks off with the opening of Bar Ferdinand.
If you survive Spanish beer, heat and French muskets and the Blob, Sunday promises the kickoff of Buy Fresh, Buy Local at Yards Brewery.
Hopefully some of that will be enough to pry yourself away from in front of the air conditioner.
