Why not investigate Cafe Estelle’s brunch? The Yelpers are raving about it and in these rough-and-tumble recessionary times, it’s good karma to support independent restaurants.

Fairmount’s Bridgid’s is a good spot that combines tasty food, with good prices and great beer. Phoodie.info highlights the $5 Bowl of Chili and beer special. They can keep their Miller High Life but we’d gladly wash down the chili with Yards Brawler or Sly Fox Dunkel Lager.
And today, Meal Ticket excitedly exclaims that you should eat Bridgid’s brunch “immediately.”

What are you doing for New Year’s Day? As we were recently quoted as saying, “when you drink on New Years Day, you drink with the pros.” We think we’re proud of saying that.
There is of course the Mummer’s Parade and with it a boat load of traditions. Will you be at Philadelphia’s oldest bar, McGillin’s Olde Ale House for a pint? Or perhaps at Dirty Frank’s, where men in sequin rule the roost.
A few miles away from the parade route will see the unveiling of Local 44, 20 taps of beer and bottles of Orval will start flowing at 5pm.
NYD brunch is a growing tradition. Check out our incomplete list of brunch spots and other happenings after the jump.

It might take forever but Adam Erace finds that Cafe L’Aube is worth the wait.
Feather-light and tissue-thin, L’Aube’s lovely crepes washed out the bad taste. Cooked on a traditional circular griddle, blended wheat and buckwheat batters formed the sweet and savory canvases for ham, mushrooms and Swiss; sliced turkey, crushed walnuts and a drizzle of honey; simple cinnamon-sugar brightened with lemon; and the classic crepe trio: strawberries, bananas and the cure to all the world’s problems, Nutella.
