We’re talking March Madness and if you have to duck out of the downtown office at lunch to watch Temple knock off Michigan State today check out Barristers where they’ve recently revamped their menu adding grilled flatbreads, Panko crusted chicken and a hanger cheesesteak with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions and crumbled blue cheese. Wash it down with a beer on special, grab a mint and sneak back to the office before anyone notices.

And speaking of brackets, Foobooz has moved on the second round of Philly Madness where we face Lu Ann Cahn. Lu Ann Cahn? We’ll scratch her eyes out.

City Paper asks if there are any good spots to watch sports in this city. A surprisingly difficult question. But luckily for us they came up with some varied and decent answers.

Are there any places in this city where a discerning sports fan can go to see a game, drink good beer, enjoy decent grub and not have to listen to the rantings of overemotional lunatics? Barristers Bar & Grille is bringing some retro fun to mid-winter with their first annual ’80s Prom Night Gala. This Saturday night starting at 9 PM step back in time and join the likes of Ducky, Blaine and of course Andie. There will be an open bar from 10 PM to 1 AM, full buffet dinner, and all your favorite and infamous 80’s songs played all night long.

Three prizes for the best ’80s costumes (the cheesier the better) and your very own prom picture. $80 per person.

We here at Foobooz have to be honest, we’re not the biggest fans of New Years. Events are often over-priced, under-served and most frustratingly, overrun by amateurs. Now New Years Day on the other hand…. When you’re out drinking with people on New Years Day, then you know you’re among professionals.

But that’s not to say won’t be going out. It’s just that we aren’t that big on the galas and such, but find a nice dinner out with friends, perhaps at a BYOB, that’s how we prefer to bring in the New Year. But we’ll be up and at it early New Years Day for some real debauchery.

Running of the Santas – There are over 3,000 santas expected to run down 3rd Street from Finnigan’s Wake to McFadden’s.

Unwrapped � A Night of Tinsel and Tassels. The Hellcat and Bawdy Girls perform a classic burlesque show at the North Star Bar starting at 9 PM.

Also tomorrow night, Barristers Bar & Grille is throwing their Holiday Party with The Man in Black, a Johnny Cash Tribute band.
