Of Beer Gardens and Pubs

Posted by Foobooz on 25th January 2010

Michael Klein followed up late Friday with more details on some of last week’s most interesting developments.

Klein says no to a story published in the Inquirer’s business section. He reports that a brew pub is not coming to the Shops at Liberty Place.

And as for the beer garden by Stephen Starr in Fishtown, it  seems likely that it will actually happen and initially will be outdoor only.

As for what Starr’s outdoor beer garden might look like, the Illadelph points us towards the Standard Hotel’s Biergarten in the Meatpacking District of New York for a possible idea. Others in our comments have speculated it might look something like Brooklyn’s Radegast hall & Biergarten. Both seem worthy inspirations.

More on Liberty Place Shuffling

Posted by Foobooz on 20th January 2010

shops_liberty_place

Lew Bryson spotted an interesting article in the Philadelphia Inquirer Business section today regarding changes in store for the Shops at Liberty Place. The shopping mall turns 20 this year and a number of leases have ended opening several storefronts and allowing for a re-imagining of the shops. Most interesting to the Foobooz crowd is that negotiations are going on between Liberty Place and a brewpub. Oddly, the article made no mention of Michael Klein’s Thursday post regarding Vintage Irving, a New York wine bar being close to signing a lease.

Could a new look Liberty Place sport a wine bar and brewpub?
