The Bite talks soup today as January is national soup month. Tuesday Legal Sea Foods is giving away cups of chowder. And if you can’t make it out to King of Prussia make it to the Pumpkin Market on South Street for their short rib chili. It’s also Mexican mole month at Xochitl with a special 3-course menu for $40.

Craig LaBan tries out
Legal Sea Foods, the growing seafood chain out of Boston.
Stick with the classics. The fish and chips brought flaky haddock inside a perfect greaseless crust. The Romano cheese-breaded soft-shell crabs were meaty and sweet. The stuffed shrimp were leaden, but the little filet was an excellent “turf” to the shrimp’s bready “surf.”

Michael Klein’s Table Talk took last week off and comes back loaded for bear.
The Misconduct Tavern returns under new ownership. Christopher Lee, of Pumpkin and L’Oca background will man the kitchen. The re-opening is set for this Monday.
Knock knock. Who’s there? Knock. Knock who? Knock, the latest spot to try and end the curse of 12th and Locust, that’s who. Bill Wood who recently sold Woody’s is teaming with his brother to bring “a global restaurant-lounge” to the corner location.
The Jefferson Hospital area (J Ho?) Marathon Grill is two to three weeks away. Expect a “rustic” look with exposed brick iron and wood.
And finally Legal Sea Foods has opened at the Court at King of Prussia.

Osteria is opening tonight! Marc Vetri’s casual spot on north Broad Street will certainly but less expensive than Vetri, but at $50 a head it isn’t quite cheap. [Table Talk, Philadelphia Inquirer]
Pumpkin Market is looking to open by March 1st. Next door to BYOB Pumpkin, the G-Ho market will offer familiar bagels and coffe in the morning and add anti-pasta type grub and semi-prepared foods (crab cakes, mac ‘n’ cheese, etc.). [Feeding Frenzy, City Paper]
