Truck Talk

Posted by Foobooz on May 24th, 2010

We’ve certainly been enjoying all the new food trucks springing up around town, so much so that we hope Truck Talk can become a regular feature.

A pimped-out new coffee truck has landed in University City along 38th Street at Locust Walk. Mojo Gourmet Coffee is serving up New Orleans roast coffee and a menu of breakfast goodies and panini specialties like Prosciutto, egg and cheese. Mojo has all the social media accessories to be a food truck, web site, Facebook page and of course Twitter.

According to BROG, who blogs about town, Bebe’s Barbecue is getting into the truck business with the purchase of an old Tastykake truck. There’s a truck worth tailgating. [BROG]

Also, we’ve created a Twitter list of all Philadelphia’s tweeting food trucks that you can follow.

Update: The Mojo Coffee Truck has moved its location. It is now at the corner of 38th and Spruce. They’ve also got a coupon on their web site for a free iced coffee or tea with the purchase of lunch. Meal Ticket has some more on the story.

Mojo needs to find a new spot. Right next to the only other gourmet coffee truck in West philly? GTFOH. Absolutely pathetic and shameless + their prices are higher.

No way I’m ever trying them–hub bub is where its at.

    2. SH Says:

Mojo’s decision to park behind Hub Bub is totally not cool. There are so few places to buy drinkable coffee in univ. city that they could have planted themselves anywhere–the decision to park bumper to bumper with Hub Bub is just wrong.

    3. Mojo Says:

I appreciate all the loyalty people are showing to Hubbub – Drew is a very nice guy. Just so you know, it was NOT our decision to park behind him. The city of Philadelphia chose this spot for us – it was not our first, second or third choice. So we could not have planted ourselves anywhere. This is all we got and I apologize if it offends anyone. You are certainly welcome to choose whichever truck you’d like to visit.

Besides that, Hub Bub doesn’t seem to be open anymore. Every time I’ve been by (two or three times a week) in the last two months, they’ve been closed during what would be regular business hours. Anyone else notice this?

    5. rory Says:

meal ticket had a nice update about L & I and apparently moving the trucks so they aren’t right next to each other. Hub bub’s hours have been irregular due to family stuff, i think.

I tried the Italiano Panini – Proscuitto, salami, pepperoni, provolone, mozzarella, tomato, roasted pepper basil and cold brewed coffee smoother than most, both where excellent. I need to try breakfast next time.
PS went back for FROZEN lemonade, it took me down about 10 degrees. I did not see any other truck?
