Shopping At Green Aisle

Posted by Foobooz on December 3rd, 2009

This week the Bite takes a look at Green Aisle Grocery on Passyunk Ave. The only place in town that serves up Zahav hummus, Stumptown Coffee, mustardo from James and chili from Cafe con Chocolate.

And by the way, Green Aisle has just started delivery.

They should get some Byblos hummous and have a Hummous Smackdown.

Mhmm…not sure I’m down for overpriced simple hummus (when I can get the best rendition for less at Saad’s west philly or out of my own kitchen) but I’m heading over for the mostarda, seems like an excellent gift. James fennel mostarda is an awesome friend to strong or bloomy rind cheeses, esp. goat cheese.

and they sell Bibou’s pumpkin bread!

Unfortunately, had some less than stellar milk and coffee from Green Aisle. I fear the milk was improperly refrigerated, and the Stumptown coffee…well, it just seemed stale. Beautiful store, though, and friendly service.

I wish they could get their hands on for pete’s sake bacon and onion marmalade. It’s highly addictive.
