Things never stay the same, even delicious sandwiches like Paesano’s namesake sandwich. Formerly, the Paesano was a slow roasted beef sandwich with roasted tomato, coleslaw, Pepperoncino and Gorgonzola but has now been reformulated to feature beef brisket and fried egg.

The Bite takes a look at what the Royal Tavern is doing for its anniversary, bringing back tasty menu items of yesteryear and asks, what other plates do you miss?

I hate it when people tinker with perfection. Why not just add a new sandwich to the menu? The Paesano was the best sandwich in Philadelphia. There was no reason to completely change it.

  2. Holly Says:

I miss the old Paesano too…sigh.

  3. rory Says:

make that three. the new sandwich is nice, but the old paesano was what made paesano’s a regular stop for me. i miss it.

  4. Lou Says:

I quadruple the the above comments. Start a new sandwich, leave perfection be.
