Shotgun Rally
Posted by Foobooz on November 2nd, 2009
Friday afternoon we received a note that Monday evening Pub & Kitchen would be kicking off the Phillies game with a “shotgun rally” of 100 free cans of Sly Fox Pikeland Pils. We were a bit incredulous. Had a Blackberry been compromised? Was someone pulling our leg? Was Pub & Kitchen losing its mind?
But we checked in over the weekend and it is true. Owner, Ed Hackett wants 100 people on the sidewalk shotgunning cans of Pikeland Pils t 7 tonight. Maybe it’s just the thing the Phillies need to get back on track, it’s certainly worth the try.
In other Pub & Kitchen news, the Illadelph spotted the 20th and Lombard bar in last week’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode.

I would love to see 100 yuppies shotgunning beers. Counting the stained polo shirts afterwards would a good time too. Great idea!

A good shotgun doesn’t waste the beer … but I fear Herb’s right and we’ll be seeing the spectacle of a lot of wasted Sly Fox. More embarrassing we’ll be privy to the spectacle of stained polo shirt types acting “buzzed” after the rapid infusion of the whole 2 oz. they managed to get in their system.
I’d also be more impressed if that happend around now. Could really use a beer after last night.

Hang-ups regarding other peoples clothes aside, this shotgun rally is an idea I can get behind if it jump starts the Phightins.
Here’s one for you: would there be more hipsters with stained skinny jeans if the rally was at POPE than there will be former frat boys with stained polos at the Pabbit?
The Germans have just bombed Pearl Harbor. This is not the time for snarkiness people.

Phils are going down tonight, just like those cans of Sly Fox are going down (people’s throats).

Last week P&B was 50/50 hipsters/yuppies by my estimate. I’d like to think I was one of the slobs avoiding either description, but who knows, and who cares?

I’m just saying shotgunning is an art largely lost by those who take on identities through the wearing of polo shirts or their gf’s jeans.
I do hope the baseball gods receive the pils spray the shotgunners can’t handle as a sacrifice to curry their favor. Give us a win, and the Phils will give you a long road.

The Shotgun gods have been summoned.
