This has always been my beef with Garces' places. Chifa pulls the same move, charging $7 for a glass of Allagash White that looks to be less than 12 oz. A full pint of that Allagash White is 5 bucks at Tria. Even giving Chifa the benefit of the doubt that it's a 12 ounce glass, they're still charging almost twice Tria's price per ounce.

I don't mind paying a premium for the food at his places, because it's almost always completely worth it. The booze, on the other hand, just shouldn't be marked up that much. I might be able to swallow the markup if his places had fantastic service, but my experience with that has been very spotty. Sometimes great, sometimes laughably bad.

I'll still go to his places, because the food is just that good, but the feeling that I'm being gouged on the booze always detracts from the experience.

VW charges $8 for a12 ounce Bear Republic Stout
Lets do the math
a 1/2 keg costs $164
and you get 164 12 oz pours from that keg
164 x 8 = $1312
minus 164 for the keg
EQUALS $1148 profit for a HALF KEG !!!!
that is crazy
Memphis tap has the same beer for $5
highway robbery my friends
i dont mind people making a profit but this is just a scam
