Whiskey King Burger – Photo via Meal Ticket

Village Whiskey has been open a week now and there’s been a lot of discussion of the $24 Whiskey King burger but none of that talk has been in the form of a Haiku. We fix that now!

I am the only one who thinks DO NOT WANT when I see this? It’s just too over the top for me.

  2. Christian Says:

You are not the only one. You know what else that burger could use? A couple of pats of butter on top of the foie gras.

  3. cleevus Says:

what’s up with the bun? there’s no way you could finish that thing intact.

  4. Barry G Says:

Christian, I will wager that the roll is well buttered as is the pan they cook it all in.

  5. kapusta Says:

    The bun, surprisingly, stays intact.

the bun looks like ciabatta. while i do like a good brioche bun, they do tend to fall apart when topped with a ‘juice bomb’. while i do like the idea of foie on the burger, i think that the flavor would totally get lost, especially with the cheese and bacon. oyster house’s (excellent, though underseasoned) burger has a fried oyster on top, but with a strong cheese and other toppings, the flavor and texture of the oyster was practically imperceptible. my dining companion did it right- she ate the oyster separately.

The menu says it’s a potato bun, if I remember correctly. It’s a big burger but if you cut it in half it’s easier to handle. I also think it’s big enough to feed two people. In my opinion, the bacon and onions got lost while the foie and cheese went quite well with the beef.

  8. kapusta Says:

It is a milk stout potato bun.

  9. e Says:

woah. i need to try out this bad boy.

can foobooz add a “like” button a la FB? cuz that all I really wanna say

  11. JD Says:

I thought the onions and bacon were maybe a little too sweet but overall it was pretty awesome. Absolutely the best burger, meat-wise, I’ve ever had. The regular burger was great too, didn’t even need cheese. And the bartenders are great.

  12. JD Says:

I’m working my way up.. thats a whole lot of burger!!!! I like the FB “like” button idea.

  13. Roland Says:

the Foie got lost in it. Overwhelmed by the blue cheese. The bun i was served was a milk stout potato bun and stayed intact, but the burger itself was quite fragile. Easily downed it by myself. Worth trying to make up your own opinion but I wont order it again. Id rather skip the foie in this one. I think the Butcher & Singer burger was way better.
