Music Fountain Cafe Opens Under Radar
Posted by Foobooz on September 29th, 2009

Phoodie tips as off that the Music Fountain Cafe has quietly opened on East Girard Avenue in Fishtown. It’s a throwback classic of a soda fountain and coffee shop serving up Bassett’s ice cream and LaColombe coffee. There’s even a free jukebox filled with oldies to take you back to a simpler time, as long as you think of maintaining a fallout shelter (there’s even an era appropriate sign on the one wall) as a simpler time.
It looks very slick and Phoodie has many more photos.

First, I wish this place success and hope they pull it off in this neighborhood.
Second – Is La Colombe really a draw? Quite honestly, while their coffee is decent, I’ve never had a good experience at La Colombe and have seen their baristas berate customers for not ordering “properly.” Can’t somebody use Torreo or Chestnut Hill Coffee?

christian–thank you. They also pull an overly bitter espresso and there’s no legitimate reason to be asses to your customers at their store. the coffee itself is good, but i’m not enough of a fan to get over their other flaws.
anyway, i like the idea for the music fountain cafe. definitely gonna have to check them out!
