Posted by Foobooz on September 30th, 2009

Hudson Beach Glass and the Garces Restaurant Group (GRG) are hosting a one-of-a-kind event on Friday, October 9th, a whiskey tasting where the star of the show is the glass.

Sean Gilvey, owner of Hudson Beach Glass has been working with Village Whiskey’s Stephen Seibert to create a whiskey glass that highlights the liquor.

Guests will have a chance to try the glass with three different whiskeys as Seibert explains the different flavors and effects of the glass.

Admission is $40 and includes one glass to take home, tastes of the different whiskeys and snacks provided by Amada.

Tickets are available online, by visiting Hudson Beach Glass or by calling 267-319-1887.

Anyone remember or use Riannon Walsh’s custom whiskey glass, mentioned in the Inky’s profile of her almost two years back?

  4. Riannon Walsh Says:

    hi Marty B

Riannon Walsh here…I saw your question about my glass and since Im local to Philly, I thought Id jump in.
The glass I designed is the result of 30 years of nosing whisky for everything from cask selections to personal enjoyment to judging. Every element of the glass has a purpose and at least a dozen world class distillers and blenders have confirmed it as the best glass they have ever used for fine whiskies and several other distilled spirits as well (its excellent for gins and rums etc)

The CelticMalts Spirits Glass is patented which is a very rare achievement for glassware utility as well as design. We’ve sold about 100,ooo of them to date to individuals, bars and restaurants as well as distillery tasting rooms. This has occured largely through word of mouth in the whisky world as we dont advertise the glass at all. Its been ‘discovered’ and written up by several prominent magazines without our solicitation and we sell it through the CelticMalts website (both wholesale and retail). Its extremely affordable, especially considering that it is handblown.

There are a number of whisky glasses on the market but this one is certainly the most detailed and effective to date in its design and utility. I hope you’ll give it a try. We have NEVER had anyone try it who wasnt amazed with it’s ability to enhance the spirit it held.
    cheers
    Riannon
