Rubb Revealed
Posted by Foobooz on August 4th, 2009
Matt Levin will be opening Rubb, his “punk-rock bbq” spot on Main Street in Manayunk this fall. Michael Klein gets the menu today. We say yes to it all but especially the spicy chicken sandwich with pickles and sweet cabbage as well as hush puppies with poblano ketchup. We’re also intrigued by what Levin means by bug juice.
Also of note, the Illadelph was right, Levin will be at Saturday’s Stephen Starr-Garry Maddox BBQ Challenge.

glad to see the ‘yunk is getting some decent BBQ. It’s a shame that Tommy Guns is all the way on the other side of Main Street. That place is pretty good too!

does anyone really give a shit about a BBQ spot in manyunk? especially by an over hyped chef with no real creditbility. this city is so starved for something new and good that we give merit to to almost anything.

umm…Levin was exec. chef at Lacroix. Not sure why he has “no real credibility” from that.

You have one of the only people to get four bells from Laban, nationally recognized chef coming to Manayunk off all places to start a ridiculous bbq concept.
After the Maddox bbq challange tomorrow, which I’m sure Levin will win, manayunk & philly as a whole are in for a great addition.

Unless Rubb is going to have a huge free parking area, why not just keep going to Tommy Gunns? Plus, Blind Pig BBQ blew Rubb out of the water at the ballpark.
