Tuesday, East Passyunk will be hosting a Save the Fountain Fundraiser. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and the money will go to repairing and maintaing the singing fountain at Passyunk and Tasker.

From 6:30 until 9pm more than a dozen restaurants will be offering food and drink at the plaza by the fountain.

Get your tickets ahead of time at select retailers and restaurants along the avenue including: Absolute Abstract, Black & Brew, JimmyStyle, Izumi, Paradiso and Reliable Floor Covering, as well as at the BID office.

Inquirer columnist Dan Rubin wrote about the fountain yesterday in the Inquirer.

will it pay for a bench or two and to take down the fence?

  2. Marty B. Says:

Some folks were just repainting the fence this morning so my guess is no.

  3. Andre Says:

It just seems incredible they could put such a nice fountain there, no benches on which to sit and enjoy it, and a fence that says “we don’t trust you so we’ll put up a cheap fence that couldn’t possibly keep out ne’erdowells. “

  4. The Interventionist Says:

Looks like rain tomorrow. Is there a rain date?

I think the fencing may be to discourage folks from using the fountain as a dog watering station, or maybe to protect the speakers/sound set up, but why not ask why first before railing against the thing? The local civic associations would be a good start.

The fundraiser is on for tonight. Only a minor chance of some showers. Enjoy.
