“Let Them Eat Tastykakes”

Posted by Foobooz on July 9th, 2009

storm_the_bastilleStarting this evening Fairmount goes French. It’s the annual Bastille Day Festival and it kicks off this evening with a  French Fling Bar Crawl.  Seven bars will be offering $3 Kronenbourg 1664s.

Tomorrow, many of the neighborhood’s restaurants go French with themed menus and Trio featuring two tasting menus, one for the Bourgeoisie and one for the Aristocrats.

Saturday marks the big street festival, which is always a good time for eating, drinking and of course, storming the Bastille. If you haven’t rushed Bastille stand-in, Eastern State Penitentiary you owe it to yourself to be there at 5:30. And in a Philadelphia twist, Marie Antoinette will yell “let them eat Tastykakes!”

Recover from all that revolution on Sunday with French Champagne brunches at participating restaurants.
