Yards Brewpub To New Jersey?

Posted by Foobooz on June 23rd, 2009

Joe Sixpack is reporting that Yards Brewing is close to agreeing to open a new brewpub in nearby Merchantville, New Jersey. The brewpub would take over an 80-year old bank building. Making the plan doable is the borough owns the building and the liquor license already and want to bring Yards in.

Merchantville will be the next Collingswood in South Jersey. It’s just as close, has a downtown ripe for economic redevelopment, and has something better that Collingswood doesn’t have – liquor licenses!

  2. Andre Says:

I’m pretty disappointed they didn’t follow through with their brewpub on Del Ave

  3. fixedgear Says:

So municipalities have liquor licenses and can give them out without any competetive process? That’s nice. If it were the PA LCB and they were entering into some special arangement with a celeb chef like Jose Garces some folks might be upset. It’s cool becaus it’s beer!

  4. Foobooz Says:

The brewpub on Delaware seems to be a go. There was this line in the article.

“The Northern Liberties brewery is currently working to open a pub in its production facility on Delaware Avenue.’

  5. rory Says:

fixedgear–it’s cool cuz it’s in NJ where liquor laws aren’t anachronistic and monopolistic.

  6. Jesse Livermore Says:

Merchantville the next Collingswood? You can’t be serious. Merchantville is the Mayberry of South Jersey. When you visit don’t dare go over 27 mph within the borough limits.
