Tour With Joe Sixpack
Posted by Foobooz on June 5th, 2009

The Edible World Tour is back and this time with Don Russell (Joe Sixpack) galavanting around Northern Liberties. The tour kicks off from the brand new Swift Half in Northern Liberties and takes you around the storied beer neighborhood with stops at Ortlieb’s, the Foodery, Standard Tap and 700 Club.
The tour is Saturday, June 13th from 2 to 5:30 pm. Tickets are $75 ($65 for First Person Arts members) and are all-inclusive.
Speaking of Mr. Sixpack, today his column focuses on some good summer brews including the surpisingly fun Roy Pitz Watermelon Lager.

Just to clarify, Chunk, this includes plenty of food and beer, and it’s a fundraiser for First Person Arts! We’re certain you’ll leave more than satisfied…
Thanks!

If you have the chance to try that Watermelon lager I recommend you take it. It sure is refreshing. Not sure you need a case of it. But a pint, yes.

There’s something so right about watermelon lager in a can! I want.

no, no no foobooz, you were supposed to write:
“as a brewer from roy pitz, i am sure you will be satisfied by our product, and by the way, all proceeds from the beer go direcctly to charity”
that would have been better symetry / irony…
ps I have heard that this beer is actually really good, not too watermelon-y because it’s just “aged” in watermelons as opposed to being brewed with watermelon or whatever…

Where can I sample some of this watermelon brew?

Yeah, I want to know too! Foodery doesn’t have it listed.

it’s draft only. not sure where it’s on draft in philly right now, but i have seen it at the khyber and at capone’s amongst others. also, you could just go the brewery itself and fill a growler for 10 bucks. they are in chambersburg and are having a 1 year anniversary party tommorow i think, you could try a bunch of their other crazy fruit beers (plums!) or whatever.
