Marigold’s O’Shea To South Street

Posted by Foobooz on June 4th, 2009

We guess we should have seen the writing on the wall. The Craigslist ad for a two-story West Philly BYOB. Steve Cook and Michael Solomonov doing a barbecue restaurant on South Street. A chef with a southern resume already on the payroll. But somehow it never dawned on us that Cook and Solomonov would be selling Marigold Kitchen and bringing chef Erin O’Shea to the South Street barbecue place, which we now know will be known as Percy Street Barbecue. But that’s what has happened.

Michael Klein has the details including what the new Marigold Kitchen will be like.

Marigold to be sold; chef to do BBQ on South St. [The Insider]

600 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA

O’Shea/Solomonov/Cook collaboratory meal on August 1? I am willing to wish a fond farewell to their Marigold if it means all of them coming together for some insane Mexican/Israeli/Virginian super meal.

  2. Roland Says:

Im down too but $65/person 2-course “feast”??? Isnt that pushing it a little?

I really hope it was a typo from Michael Klein.

  3. Foobooz Says:

We’ve just received the official press release. It will be a SIX-course farewell dinner on Saturday, August 1 for $65 per guest. And of course, it’ll be BYO too.

  4. Roland Says:

alright now THAT I’m definitely willing to go to!

  5. sighing softly Says:

I think this is so tragic. Marigold is my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia…and I doubt there will be much vegetarian love at the new BBQ place. I will miss the $30 Sunday dinners. Sigh.

  6. Anthony Says:

I am also a little sad about this. I love BBQ, but I don’t like it messed with, and O’Shea is too talented to just leave it alone. This smells a little like Django.
