Home Again At The Oyster House
Posted by Foobooz on June 11th, 2009
Rick Nichols had his nose pressed against the glass as he waited for the third generation of Minks to open this latest version of the Oyster House.
By 4:55 p.m., Sam Mink, at 33 the latest family member to run the haunt, had final words for the servers: Please, he implored, keep refilling the big goblets of oyster crackers; and mind the horseradish pots, too.
No spotlights swept the wet sky. No evidence of an event planner was in sight. Sam’s father, David, in a maroon polo shirt, swept off the front doormat with a hand broom.
This was the softest of soft openings. But old customers had no trouble sniffing it out.
Happy hour starts next week. It’ll run Monday through Friday, 5 to 7 pm. One of the oyster varieties will be $1 a piece and all wine, sparkling and otherwise will be $5. Draft beers will be $3.

Any idea if there are cocktail specials at Happy Hour? I’d love to try some of Katie’s creations.

stopped in two nights ago and loved the re-do. Great, great job. Exactly what Philly needed. Well done. Now get a little TV at the bar, P&K style so gents can watch the Phils this summer. When the game is off, the TV is off. If i could watch a game at the bar in there, that would be the cherry on top.

was there last night; will definitely be back in the near future. please don’t put a tv in the bar! if you want to watch the game walk down to noddinghead or that new ladder place. i thought i saw that the happy hour didn’t include prices off cocktails, except the punch, which will be $5 instead of $7. (but after a couple of oyster shooters and cocktails, my memory might be a little fuzzy)
