Rare Treat At SPTR
Posted by Foobooz on May 21st, 2009
Founders Brewing Co. and the South Philadelphia Taproom have a special relationship. And one of the benefits of them being BFFs is that SPTR gets some special beers in from time to time. This weekend is one of those times. the Tap Room will tap the state’s only keg of Founder’s Canadian Breakfast Stout Saturday at 5pm.
The Canadian Breakfast Stout is one of Founder’s super-rare releases. It’s similar to the Kentucky Breakfast Stout but its been aged in maple syrup barrels instead of bourbon barrels. First come, first served and when it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

I like the Founders, and I’ve become a recent convert to barrel conditioned beers … but anyone besides me think “maple syrup stout” is just a wee bit gross tasting?

The owner told me they will be tapping it at 9pm… not 5pm. Just an FYI.

That is correct. The tapping has been pushed back.
