FroYo On Chestnut
Posted by Foobooz on May 18th, 2009
Over the weekend printed signs appeared in the window of the former Raindrop Cafe/Amazon Cafe at the corner of 18th and Chestnut. The signs simply stated, “Frozen Yogurt 6/1/09.”
Will this be Philadelphia’s first Pinkberry or RedMango? Our own observations don’t lead us to believe that the space will be home to either of the best known national tart frozen yogurt chains but the space is certainly modeled to resemble the popular places.
Check out the fancy stools and red-tiled counter above.
Does it look like another frozen yogurt chain?

i may be mistaken but isn’t there already a frozen yogurt place on south street?

Yes there is Phileo on South Street. We’re not saying this is the first, rather this spot will not be RedMango or Pinkberry.

Spoke to the owners today. The name of the spot is “Sweet Endings”.

Surprising they would open in that location with Scoop Deville only right across 18th Street.

For anyone interested…today (May 20th @ 3:00 PM) they seem to be in soft-open mode and are giving away free samples of vanilla and orange yogurt. To me it seems less tangy and less sweet than Pinkberry or Phielo…but about the same as RedMango. Also it seems they’re another mom & pop operation and not a chain

Apparently, the owners were approached by PinkBerry and RedMango but they turned it down to operate their own store. Something to do with franchising and the limited control. In any case, I’m pretty impressed with their options and their toppings are pretty good. Try the mochi, and pair it with some fruit. It makes the yogurt that much better.
