Royal Named Top PA Burger
Posted by Foobooz on April 30th, 2009

The Food Network has named a top burger from all of the 50 states and the network puts the Royal Tavern’s Royal burger at number one for Pennsylvania.
The thick patty comes on a brioche bun with caramelized onions, bacon, gouda, chili mayonnaise and pickled hot peppers.
Picking one top burger is fraught with peril, but we admit, we do love us the Royal Burger.

I haven’t had the Royal burger, but having had a few of the other well-hyped Philly burgers, I’d be shocked if anything in the city is as good as the burgers they sell at Stoudt’s Brewery in Adamstown.

I worked here for about a year-=- and i never got sick of that burger. I agree- it might just be the best. And there’s always something great on tap to go with it.
Also- strong showings from Pub and Kitchen, SPTR, Misconduct, and of course, Good Dog. Lastly-of note- The new Veggie burger at the POPE is sure to make anyone’s day.

Wow. I used to love the Royal, but I haven’t had a meal worth talking about from there in years. It’s just been awful. And I certainly don’t ever remember their burger being anything to write home about.

Royal does have my fovorite burger in town. It’s better than Good Dog and Standard Tap. I love the long hots, mayo and fries.
But I have to wonder how one decides the “best” burger in an entire state? Seems like a plan by the magazine to drum up links and controversy.
