  1. Yuppie Eats Philly Says:

I couldn’t agree more with their choice of Zahav. Its not easy to introduce a certain cuisine onto the Philly food scene and nail it in the first year. Solomonov has done it.

  2. Christian Says:

You could debate the top 5 forever, but Zahav is 100% worthy of the No. 1 spot. It takes a huge amount of talent, skill, and hard work, not to mention guts, to shift gears from a style you were already successful with and introduce an unexplored ethnic cuisine to the Italian-BYO centric market of Philadelphia. Huge congrats to Solo, Cook, and all the staff!

  3. sachi Says:

i’ve been to zahav twice now and i must not be eating the same food as everyone else. i don’t understand all the hype – i think it’s overrated.

  4. anna Says:

you’d be right. if anyone thinks zahav is the best restaurant in the city, it is definitely overrated.

don’t get me wrong, it’s good, and solomonov is a very good cook, but best in the city? PLEASE

let’s see. vetri or zahav. it’s not even close
